During my intermediate laboratory training, I was looking for a summer job so I could gain some professional experience. Through an employment agency, I got a job in the refinery at Bunge Loders Croklaan as a laboratory technician.
I really liked the atmosphere and the work, so I decided to do my final internship in the Analytical Laboratory department the following year. It was extremely enjoyable and instructive, and I was able to stay on as a Chemical Analyst. I spent several happy years as a Quality Control Analyst and was able to take a part-time HLO course.
In 2005, the post of Support and Development Analyst became vacant, which was a good fit with my further training. Because of the dynamic environment in Quality Control at Wormerveer, in 2007, my manager helped me shift from a support function to an operational management post.
With the construction of the second refinery at the Maasvlakte site in 2009, it was decided to hire a number of analysts there to provide support. I was asked if I would like to take on operational management of both sites. On 1 January 2010, I officially became Quality Control Coordinator at Wormerveer and Maasvlakte. I enjoy working at both sites.
What I really like about Bunge Loders Croklaan is the atmosphere, comradeship and commitment within my department and beyond. The diversity, energy, development opportunities and appreciation you receive are all great. I never thought I would stay here so long.’
